Awards & Achievements

I have had and been given several achievements and awards, such as being on the Dean's List or the President's List for many of my semesters at college. Some of the most prominent of my achievements, however, are listed below. The Steger Poetry Prize is monetarily one of the largest undergraduate poetry prizes in the world; I had the honor of presenting one of my poems at the Steger event as one of the Top Ten Finalists. Before that, I was an Outstanding Student in Liberal Arts at my community college, an honor based on GPA. I was also awarded a partial scholarship to any of the University of Alaska schools, based on a nomination from my charter school, when I was a senior in high school. Most recently, I also placed in a couple prose writing competitions at Virginia Tech, one for Halloween-themed flash fiction stories, the other for short creative nonfiction. The poem and prose works are included in my portfolio, as well as being viewable by clicking below.
